Will any light bulb work in an oven?

You will require a specialist light bulb to work in an oven. The light bulb will be manufactured in a way to make it suitable for use in the high temperatures created inside an oven.
We recommend replacing an oven bulb with a trusted brand such as Samsung, Osram and Crompton Lamps, you can rest assured you’re choosing a brand that’s reliable.

What bulbs are safe for ovens?

Due to the high temperature generated inside an oven, a halogen or incandescent light bulb can be relied on to operate up to 300°C and fit many different makes of domestic ovens and rotisseries.
Halogen light bulbs are made from a quartz glass material which can resist the high temperatures of an oven and the light bulbs are manufactured with heat resistant components for reliable performance.

Can I use LED light bulbs in my oven?

No, LED light bulbs do not have the heat resisting properties of a specialist light bulb designed to operate in the high temperatures of an oven.
We recommend the use of a halogen or incandescent light bulb designed specifically for this purpose.

So, what light bulb is best to use and save the day in your kitchen? Here’s our top five, to keep you in the know!

. . it seems that all the examples given, for lightbulbs to use in an oven, have a small size base (E14), unlike ‘normal’ size lightbulbs. My oven has the ‘normal’ (E26) lightbulb footprint (base) . .

Mat @ Lightbulbs Direct

That’s quite uncommon, what does the oven manufacturer suggest?

my large toaster oven does not have a light in it, is there a light i can put in it?

Mat @ Lightbulbs Direct

Does the toaster oven have a light bulb socket? or just no light at all – if no light at all then there is no retrospective solution we could provide.

¿ . . such as an external flashlight perhaps . . ?

We have a 2020 GE Range which came with a Sylvia 120 V – 40 W bulb that is burned out.looking at information on line for our range JCB840SKSS says we should use 3 different manufacturers that do not have the same socket ????? What’s with that,!!!

Mat @ Lightbulbs Direct

Hi Don, I’ve looked up the oven’s instructions online – and it is very vague on the type of light bulb that should be used. Either way, we don’t stock 120V oven lightbulbs, so I don’t think we have anything we can offer you. Sorry we can’t help.

How does the ban on the sale of halogen bulbs affect this? My oven is still being sold with halogen bulbs but they’re increasingly difficult to source replacements.

Mat @ Lightbulbs Direct

As oven appliance bulbs are specialist in that they need to withstand high ambient temperatures, then these types of lamps have an exemption rule allowing them to still be manufactured and sold.
