German lighting company, Osram, has released smart Christmas LED tree lights.
The German Energy Agency calculates that upgrading a single Christmas tree from the usual incandescent fairy lights to LED during the Christmas season could save more than €30 (just under £25) in electricity costs. An LED light chain uses 97% less electricity than a strand of incandescent lights.
Using your smartphone you can change the colour or brightness of the lights and with 16 million colours to choose from you’ll be able to create your perfect Christmas look. Once Christmas has finished you can either keep your lights for next year or can put them outside as a decorative garden light. You could even put them in kid’s or teenagers bedrooms as they’re sure to love the colour variety and personalised settings.
