John Lewis requested GE Lighting to help with their refurbishment project throughout the UK.
The range placed in their stores has reduced their energy consumption by over 50%. It has also increased the look and atmosphere of their stores.
The largest of the John Lewis brand was their flagship store on Oxford Street which was one of the first to benefit from GE Lighting.
The products used were the CMH Ultra lamps which were designed specifically for retail stores. They therefore have good lighting quality to enhance the look of the products. They also were energy efficient and had a long life expectancy.
As the European Union continues its phasing out of inefficient light bulbs it’s becoming increasingly important to start making the switch to more energy efficient lighting. Otherwise, when it comes to changing their lights, especially in large stores like John Lewis, it’s going to be extremely difficult and might not even be possible.
Lighting Design Manager at John Lewis, Barry Ayling, said:
As a responsible retailer, John Lewis, endeavours to minimize its impact on the environment. By specifying GE Lighting’s CMH Ultra range, we have significantly reduced energy consumption without compromising the look and feel of our stores. Visually the stores and merchandise appears more vibrant in colour . Energy and maintenance costs are reduced and sustainability is optimised.
GE Lighting’s Specification Sales Manager, James Fleet, said:
John Lewis has continually demonstrated their proactive adoption of energy efficient technology. CMH Ultra satisfies all project parameters and we are delightful with the results.
