Osram already has experience in the sports stadium sector in the Middle East as they provided LED lighting to the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.
Over the next eight years a number of new arenas will be built and Osram are determined to get involved with the lighting design.
Managing Director, Banan Al Khalaf, said:
We are in contact with the designers of the stadiums and ready for the contracts to be awarded for the work on them. We have all the necessary lighting products and capabilities to work on the stadiums, so it is one of our major targets as a company here in Qatar.
He added:
The designs that I’ve seen so far do excite me, and it is fun to see how stadiums have developed – it is no longer the case that it’s just four stands. You can now have façade lighting as part of the design or whole skins of lighting that can be used as big screens. What is possible now is amazing.
