According to a recent study LED lighting can increase health and productivity of workers, therefore increasing profits.

The study involved 25 garment factories in Bangalore in India from 2010 to 2013. Because of climate change, developing countries are finding it increasingly difficult to keep factory floors cool. As LED light bulbs don’t give off heat, it has kept the factories cooler which has led to higher productivity and less absenteeism.

One of the study’s authors and assistant professor at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, Achyula Adhvaryu, said:

Heat stress stops the body’s capacity to exert, so workers are less able to complete production targets. LED light bulbs create a productivity gain that dwarfs energy savings.
